Susan Barclay's Bio
It all started at the library!  At the age of three, I paid my first visit and was immediately "hooked on books"!  I spent so much time reading and attending library programs that around the age of ten, the library's page supervisor told me she'd give me a job when I turned fourteen!

The rest is history.  I took that job and eventually became a librarian. After getting an Honour's B.A. in English and Psychology and a Master's Degree in Library Science, I worked for the Toronto Public Library until mid-2002.  I now work on a casual basis for another library system in southwestern Ontario.

As for the writing, it follows on the heels of loving stories.  I started orally with poems and songs.  My mother thought they should be written down, but I could never repeat them quite as well the second time around.  I'm sure some great literature has been lost to mankind as a result!  And though it was to my mom's chagrin that I even used to read at the dinner table, she is proud of how far it has taken me. Don't worry, Mom, your grandchildren are paying me back in spades!

My husband, David, has been my biggest fan and supporter in recent years and tells everyone he can about my writing accomplishments so far - a Novice Writers' award from The Word Guild in 2005 for my article Write from the Heart: Let the Bible Show You How, and the publication of my first short stories for adults in 2006 and 2009.

My two children, now teens, are excited about having a mom who's an author. My daughter plays the flute, sings, and writes, while my son plays the sax, acts, and also writes. Hmm...there seems to be a theme here! It's fun for me to see their creativity at work. Both of them also love to read, which warms this reader/writer's heart.

I have a few children's picture books I'm shopping to publishers while I continue to work on a novel for adults.  My short story, The Long Road Home , has been accepted for publication by Highland Press for an inspirational anthology as yet to be named. Stay tuned for new developments and a publication date!
